Meadow Partners Acquires Mixed Use Property in London’s King’s Cross Neighbourhood

LONDON – August 25, 2022 – Meadow Partners (“Meadow”), an institutional middle-market real estate investor, today announced that it has acquired a fully-leased office and residential property at 20 Northdown Street in London’s King’s Cross neighbourhood.

Centrally located in the heart of King’s Cross, one of the largest and most successful redevelopments in London, the eight-story property includes approximately 8,200 square feet of office space and 14 apartments. Originally developed in 2007 by Squire & Partners architects, the building is near multiple public transportation and commuter stations providing easy access to Central London and major U.K. cities. Meadow plans to modernize the apartments, common areas and entrance.

Over the past 20 years, King’s Cross has been transformed and rejuvenated with new streets, parks, homes, shops, offices, galleries, bars, restaurants, schools, and a university. As such, it is in high-demand for businesses – evolving into the city’s leading tech hub – as well as a popular destination for locals and tourists.

Andrew McDaniel, Co-Founder and Partner at Meadow Partners, said, “Given the chronic undersupply of suitable residential accommodations in London, coupled with the shortage of office space for SMEs in the King’s Cross submarket, this transaction further represents the successful execution of Meadow’s high conviction strategies and strong boots-on-the-ground team in the U.K.  We are pleased to build upon our track record in the region while bringing much-needed attractive residences and offices to a rapidly expanding market drawing families and young professionals.”

Meadow has been an active investor in London deploying approximately $1.1bn into residential assets in the region since the firm’s inception. In 2015, Meadow established a dedicated U.K. residential investment platform, and since then has developed in-house asset and property management capabilities to optimize local property resources. The firm currently owns 1,690 high-quality units in London, and intends to scale its U.K. residential portfolio to 3,000+ rental units over the next five years through its ongoing investment in well-located mid-market residential properties in Greater London and the home counties.

Investec Real Estate provided a £11.2 million loan to support the acquisition.
